UPDATE: Entrance to street closed after Tullamore collision

Debris cleared from scene in centre of Offaly county town

Mercedes crash

The car involved in the bizarre incident this afternoon

OFFALLY Street has been closed to traffic from William Street in Tullamore town centre after one vehicle was involved in a series of collisions this afternoon.

More gardai arrived on the scene and heavy construction machinery was being used to move two tree-planters back into place and restore bollards which had almost been flattened by the impact.

A 2021 Dublin-registered Mercedes hatchback came to a halt at the end of the short narrow lane at the rear of Browne's Bar and Venue after it had hit street furniture on both sides of William Street.

The Mercedes, which sustained substantial damage to its rear and passenger side, also struck the wing mirror of a car parked on William Street.

Luckily no pedestrians or other motorists were harmed in the incident which lasted a matter of minutes.
