A MAN has pleaded guilty at Tullamore Circuit Court to a serious drugs offence in Offaly.

Shane O'Neill (25), The Sycamores, Edenderry, entered the plea after being arraigned before Judge Sinead McMullan.

Mr O'Neill admitted the possession of drugs for sale or supply to others, where its value was €13,000 or more, at Castleview Park, Edenderry on May 8 last year.

A co-accused, Aaron Holt (27), Castleview Park, Edenderry, had pleaded guilty in June to a similar offence.

David Nugent, BL, appearing for Mr O'Neill (instructed by Aisling Maloney, solicitor) sought a probation and welfare report in advance of sentencing.

Mr Nugent said the accused was in full time employment and had availed of counselling after being charged with the offence.

A probation report had previously been ordered for Mr Holt but Michael Hourigan, SC, appearing for his defence, said it was not yet ready.

Shane Geraghty, BL, prosecuting, agreed with Mr Hourigan that the sentencing of Mr Holt could take place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 8).

Judge McMullan remanded Mr Holt for sentencing on Wednesday and adjourned the sentencing of Mr O'Neill to January 13.
