Protocol in place in Tipperary to deal with Halloween bonfires

North Tipperary has seen a big increase in Halloween bonfires. Unofficial bonfires are illegal.

THE Halloween period in North Tipperary has now become much busier for the Fire Service than it used to be, a recent meeting of Nenagh Municipal District was told.
Cllr Fiona Bonfield praised the Fire Service teams in Tipperary for being so efficient during Halloween each year. “The teams are called out a lot during the Halloween period and I want to commend their hard work.” She said they had to tackle a lot of bonfires in the region. These bonfires are illegal, unregulated, and often dangerous, and they are particularly concentrated in urban areas.
Halloween sees the burning of hazardous materials, and anti-social behaviour.
A member of the Council executive told Cllr Bonfield that the Halloween period has become “a much busier time for our teams.”
