A huge number of tins of paints were indiscriminately dumped in Knockanroe Car Park, high in the Silvermines Hills.

A HUGE amount of illegal rubbish dumping has been happening in a beauty spot in North Tipperary, causing great upset to many locals, who greatly value the area.
Cllr Pamela Quirke O'Meara pointed out during a recent Nenagh Meeting that there's a "vast amount of illegally dumped rubbish on Coillte land in the Silvermines area." She called on the powers that be to remove these eyesores. She said the area is called Knockanroe Woods and the problem was “all over social media. It's one of our most beautiful areas in the county. I am strongly requesting that we clear away the refuse.” Knockanroe Woods is popular with walkers who enjoy the magnificent views over the Silvermines Hills and Keeper Hill.
During January, hundreds of old paint tins, buckets, and other commercial painting supplies were dumped at Knockanroe Woods. A large quantity of household rubbish was scattered across the popular car park. The area has also been targeted with bags of fish heads, which have been discovered on multiple occasions. Councillor Pamela Quirke O'Meara called for an increased use of CCTV to catch and prosecute offenders.
