The N52 Express in Ballingarry has been vacant for years.
A PLANNING application has been submitted to Tipperary County Council to demolish a number of eyesore buildings and partly knock down another in Ballingarry village.
The proposal is to remove the former shop called “N52 Express” and replace it with an effluent treatment system and percolation area.
After running as a filling station and shop, offering a hot food & deli section, for a long time, N52 Express closed years ago which was a big loss to the village. (Pictured below are the vacant houses which will be demolished).

The shop is located beside two derelict houses which also have a planning application attached to them, which is seeking to remove one of them, partly demolish the other, erect two replacement houses and extend and renovate the remainder of the existing house. These buildings will be connected to the effluent system, and off street parking to the rear of each house will be created. This development is adjacent to, but does not form part of, The Barrack houses, which are protected structures and were formerly part of the Garda Barracks. They are vacant, derelict, and in need of attention to prevent them from falling beyond repair.
