Roscrea people and communities from surrounding areas are invited to the public screening of a special locally inspired film to raise funds for Bernie's SuperValu, after it was badly damaged by fire in November.

The loss of the much beloved local supermarket, which was at the heart of the Roscrea community and was the daily meeting place for generations of Roscrea people, suffered serious damage in the fire.

A documentary film titled '100 Years of Change Down Memory Lane, with Mabel Wallace' will be screened which includes old stories she tells of social history around Shinrone, Roscrea and Birr.

The film will be shown in Roscrea Rugby Club (Streamstown Arts Centre) at 8pm on Monday January 26th.

The film is a fascinating insight into life in Offaly and North Tipperary many years ago. Robert Dempsey of Roscrea Rugby Club is hosting the event and the screening equipment will be provided by Tom Gallagher from Thurles.
