Garda Checkpoint in Dundalk this afternoon

Gardaí are following a definite line of inquiry in the Cappaneale Birr incident.

QUANTITIES of jewellery and cash were stolen in a couple of burglaries committed in Banagher and Shinrone in recent weeks.
On Wednesday November 12th between 8am and 7pm a house on Harbour Road, Banagher was broken into and searched.
The thief, or thieves, gained access by forcing open a back door.
They seized a small quantity of jewellery and cash before making their getaway.
On Tuesday November 25th burglars entered a home at Glen Cuimin Shinrone, which, according to a Garda spokesperson, was “unsecured”. The crime happened between 11am and 5pm and a quantity of cash and jewellery was stolen.
Two burglars, two males, also broke into a house in Cappaneale, Birr on Thursday November 27th. “They gained access by forcing open the rear door,” a Garda spokesperson told The Midland Tribune. “The owner was in the house at the time and he could see them on his CCTV system. The owner was able to speak to them remotely, through his security system. He told them he could see them and that the Guards were on their way. The thieves immediately fled the scene without stealing anything.” The spokesperson said the Gardaí are following a definity line of inquiry.
