Bournea Historical Society held its annual historical outing on Saturday, July 12, in the beautiful town of Cahir in South Tipperary.
On the hottest day of the year so far they began their tour at the Swiss Cottage on the banks of the river Suir. Described as an idyllic fantasy of country living, it lived up to expectations.

This was followed by a visit to Cahir Farmers Market and after they met with PJ O’Meara of Cahir Historical Society, who gave a wonderful tour of the town of Cahir including the Mall, the Viaduct and the HaHa.
He spoke about Cahir during the times of the Landlords and during the War of Independence and Civil War.
The Society wish to take this opportunity to thank PJ for his insightful tour.

Then it was on to Cahir House Hotel for dinner, followed by a visit to Cahir Castle which was the highlight of the day. They finished the daytrip with 99s enjoyied them by the river Suir.
