Offaly singer Paul Luby is gaining popularity both online and in Australia after incorporating mass hymns into his live shows alongside cover versions and original material.
The Rahan native went viral recently on social media with his cover of Catholic hymn "Here I am, My Lord" while playing a gig in Australia where he lives. The cover amassed over 2.5 million views and over 100,000 likes on Instagram.
Following the overwhelmingly positive response to the cover, the talented musician is now releasing an official version of the song across streaming platforms which is set to be out on Friday, March 6.
He took to Instagram to share a preview of the upcoming release. He wrote: "Absolutely thrilled to set a date of release for Here I Am, My Lord! It’s out March 6th and I can’t wait for everyone to listen to the full version."
The song was originally recorded in 1981 by Dan Schutte and St. Louis Jesuits but has now found a new lease of life after the Offaly man has performed it as part of his setlist.

Luby explained to EWTN News recently that the Irish twentysomethings he plays to in bars in Sydney and Perth connect instantly with the songs, singing along and demonstrating that their catholic upbringing is still present.
Following the success, Luby posted covers of popular hymns like 'Our Lady of Knock' and 'Amazing Grace' which have been embraced by those in attendance at his live shows in Australia including the huge Irish contingent along with the wider masses online.

The 27-year-old has a musical background after being part of the choir in school as well as having played in bands when he was younger, performing Irish traditional music and Irish ballads.
He studied English and Media at Maynooth University before moving to Sydney with a group of friends in 2022. He is now being recognised for his musical talents on a global scale following the viral success.
Outside of hymn covers, Luby has released original music including songs such as 'To Be Okay', 'Blossom Tree' and 'Control Myself'.
The Offaly musician will certainly be in demand for gigs and events in Australia aided by the recent traction online as his popularity and following continues to grow.
