Tullamore Hospital issue new guidelines amid increased patient admissions

Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore have released a statement after experiencing increasing numbers of people requiring admission recently.

In order to cope with this extra demand on capacity and resources, the hospital have issued a number of guidelines as a way of easing concerns including opening additional beds.

The statement reads: "The management at Tullamore Hospital is asking patients with non-emergency conditions to seek assistance from other parts of the health service such as their local Pharmacist, GP, GP out of hours service, or a local injury unit."

They did however emphasize that any patient who needs emergency hospital care will be seen and Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore would urge such patients not to delay attending the ED.

They added: "Do not delay in seeking medical attention if you suspect you are having a heart attack or stroke, please dial 999 or 112 in an emergency."  

As a result of the the increased demand, The hospital have conceded that patients who are presenting at the ED with non-urgent conditions are experiencing very long waiting times to be seen. 

The hospital recommend that people visit their nearest injury unit. The locations of each one and their opening hours can be checked here

The hospital have also said that if people require urgent medical attention out of hours, they can visit here

The Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore concluded the update by apologising for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their support and understanding.
