Almost 1,000 readers cast their vote between Thursday evening and Friday evening, and the straw poll revealed overwhelming support for the outlandish plan.
The prospect of an Offaly airport was revived this week with Offaly County Council lodging a €2.5 million environmental study for the project in Tubber with the government.
The proposal has been around for over a decade and is being headed by Tullamore man Patrick Little.
