Man on serious Offaly charges will be sent to Circuit Court

A MAN accused of assault, weapons possession and making a threat was told he will be sent forward to the Circuit Court.

Kevin Davis (37), Ballinvalley, Killeigh appeared before Tullamore District Court by video link from Cloverhill Prison having previously been remanded in custody.

Sergeant Richard Thornton said new charges were going to be brought against Mr Davis and a book of evidence would be prepared.

Sergeant Thornton applied for another remand and said the man would be produced in court on the next occasion.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded the man to February 25 and said that following service of a book of evidence he would be sent to Tullamore Circuit Court.

Mr Davis said he was changing his solicitor and asked Judge Cody: “You've no idea what the new charges are?”

The judge told him he did not and remanded him for another week.

Mr Davis is accused of making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to a woman, and assaulting a woman, along with a charge of resisting Sergeant Donal Casey.

He is also alleged to have had a realistic imitation firearm and a knife or sharply pointed blade at O'Connell Street, Birr on January 12 last.
