Man on serious Offaly charges remanded in custody again

Gardai allege accused had imitation firearm in Birr

A MAN accused of assault, weapons possession and making a threat was remanded in custody again following an appearance before Tullamore District Court by video link.

Kevin Davis (37), Ballinvalley, Killeigh, had previously been remanded in custody on offences allegedly committed on January 12 last in Birr.

Mr Davis is accused of making a threat to kill or cause serious harm to a woman, and assaulting a woman, along with a charge of resisting Sergeant Donal Casey.

He is also alleged to have had a realistic imitation firearm and a knife or sharply pointed blade at O'Connell Street, Birr.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns, court presenter, told Tullamore District Court on Wednesday (February 4) that a file had been sent to the DPP the previous day and he applied for an adjournment for directions from the DPP.

Judge Susan Fay remanded Mr Davis in custody to appear in court again on February 18 next by video link for DPP directions.

The accused was told by defence counsel David Nugent that he would speak to him before then.
