'Severely intoxicated' man fined for town centre public order offence in Offaly

A MAN arrested in the early hours of the morning in Birr town centre last June was severely intoxicated, Tullamore District Court was told.

The prosecution evidence in the case of Lorcan Dunican (22), Frankford Park, Kilcormac, was that he had been arrested at 3.10am for his own safety.

Mr Dunican was prosecuted for public drunkenness and a fixed charge penalty notice issued to him was not paid.

Judge Andrew Cody, who was told the man had five previous convictions for public order offences, imposed a fine of €400.
