Clara woman stole items from Tesco and Aldi in Tullamore

A CLARA woman stole items from a couple of supermarkets in Tullamore on four different occasions, last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court was told.

The thefts happened during June and August last year in Tesco and Aldi during which she stole drink and clothing items worth €80.60, groceries worth €22, groceries and alcohol worth €22.77, and groceries worth €71.90.

The defendant was Barbara Molloy, 9 Esker Court, Clara. The defending solicitor Aisling Maloney told the court that during this period of thefts the 47 year old was going through “difficult times.” Ms Maloney said her client “put up her hands at the earliest opportunity. She has €200 with her today in court as compensation.”

Judge Andrew Cody remanded on continuing bail to April 8 next for a welfare and probation report.
