Teen arrested in Midlands after 'lengthy' garda pursuit after suspected burglary
Gardaí have arrested and charged a teenager following a garda pursuit arising from a series of incidents in Laois and Tipperary.
A garda spokesperson told the Limerick Leader that an investigation began after a reported burglary and car theft from a residential property in Ballina, Co Tipperary, on January 17.
“In the early hours of January 18, gardaí responded to reports of a second burglary at a residence in Rathdowney, Co Laois.
“In response to the second burglary, gardaí intercepted a car in the Roscrea area following a lengthy managed containment operation,” said the garda spokesperson.
An adult male, aged in his late teens, was arrested, and the vehicle taken during the alleged Ballina burglary was recovered. Gardaí said he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in Tipperary.
The guards added that the teen was charged and was expected to appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court on Monday, January 19.
The Gardaí added that investigations are ongoing.
