National school in Offaly honours retirement of much-valued staff member

The school community of Scoil Charthaigh Naofa, Rahan came together before Christmas to honour a much-valued member of the team.

The function was held in tandem with annual Christmas School Mass, celebrated in a spirit of reflection and celebration as the festive season approached.

Pupils, staff, families and friends gathered for this cherished event, which continues to be a highlight of the school calendar and a testament to the strong sense of community and gratitude within the school.

Following the Mass, a special presentation was made to honour Anne Conroy, one of the school’s much-valued cleaners, who has retired after 17 years of dedicated and loyal service.

For almost two decades, Anne was a constant and caring presence in the school, making a quiet yet significant contribution to daily school life.

Her warmth, kindness and commitment were deeply appreciated by staff and by generations of pupils who benefited from her dedication.

The celebrations continued with tea and coffee served afterwards, giving those in attendance an opportunity to gather informally, share memories and reflect on Anne’s remarkable contribution to the school community.

It was a fitting and heartfelt occasion, allowing everyone to give thanks, celebrate the Christmas season, and acknowledge the invaluable service of a much-respected member of the Scoil Charthaigh Naofa community.
