Fined at Tullamore District Court
Fines totalling €1,000 were imposed on a man who committed a motor insurance offence because he did not have the proper driving licence.
Garda Pat McGee told Tullamore District Court that Paul Finlay (57), Daingean Road, Tullamore, had a 2005 Volkswagen Transporter van with a twin axel trailer at Clara Road, Tullamore on May 22 last.
Garda McGee said Mr Finlay did not have the licence to pull a trailer capable of carrying a specified weight.
The man's solicitor, Patrick Martin, said his client did not realise his licence did not cover him in that situation.

Garda McGee said Mr Finlay did park the vehicle and then got someone else to collect it who had a licence.
Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €750 for the insurance offence and €250 for driving without the appropriate licence.
