Man fined for using e-scooter on Offaly footpath

Did not pay fixed charge notice after being seen by garda

Fine imposed at Tullamore District Court

A FINE of €400 was imposed on a 38-year-old man for using an e-scooter on a footpath in Birr.

Garda Patrick McGee told Tullamore District Court that at 2.21pm on May 3 last at Emmet Street, Birr, he stopped Billy Parsons on an e-scooter on the foopath. A fixed charge penalty was not paid.

William Parsons, Presentation Place, Birr, was summonses for driving a powered personal transporter along or across a footway.

Garda McGee said Mr Parsons had 17 previous convictions including one for obstructing a garda and others for public order offences and criminal damage.
