AN Edenderry defendant was convicted and fined €1,200 for a number of road traffic offences during the December 10 sitting of Tullamore District Court.
Gheorghe Bodor, Ennis Lodge, Oldcourt, Edenderry was stopped by Garda Kieran Fitzpatrick from Tullamore Garda Station on March 25 last on JKL Street, Edenderry and charged with driving with no insurance, no driving licence and no NCT cert.
The defending solicitor Brian Duffy told the court that the car had been left parked outside his home by a friend.
“Unfortunately, when his daughter was ill and he had to go to the pharmacy,” said Mr Duffy, “he used this car.
He accepts it was a foolish thing to do.”
Mr Bodor pleaded guilty to all the summonses.
Judge Andrew Cody fined €700 for no insurance, €250 for no driving licence and €250 for no NCT.
