The case was heard at last week's sitting of Tullamore District Court
A TULLAMORE man was disqualified from holding a driving licence for ten years, fined and given a suspended prison sentence during last week's Tullamore District Court sitting.
Before the court was Dylan Sherlock, 84 Saint Columba's Place, Clonminch, Tullamore who was stopped by a Garda on Cormac Street, Kilcruttin, Tullamore on December 9, 2024 and summonsed for non display of a tax disc, no NCT Cert, failing to display a L plate, and being a provisional driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver.
He was also stopped on August 5, 2024 and summonsed for having no insurance and no driving licence on that date.
The defending solicitor Patrick Martin told the court that his client was pleading guilty to all matters.
Sgt Brendan Kearns pointed out that Mr Sherlock had 18 previous convictions for road traffic matters, including no insurance.
Mr Martin said his client is 27 years of age and is unemployed. “His mother passed away when he was young and there were difficulties as he was growing up.”
Judge Cody convicted and fined €1,100. He sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspending it for two years.
