LIVE: Garda cordon in place following discovery of body in Offaly home following fire

Entrances to Castleview Park in Edenderry have been cordoned off and there is a significant garda presence at the scene

There is shock in Edenderry following the discovery of a body at the same property in the town where a young boy and his grand-aunt were murdered last year.

Four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his grand-aunt Mary Holt died after a petrol bomb attack on the house in Castleview Park on December 6.

It is understood a fire broke out at the property at around 4am this Tuesday and gardaí, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene.

While gardai have confirmed the body of an adult was found inside the house, no further information has been disclosed publicly.

Entrances to the estate in Edenderry have been cordoned off and there is a significant garda presence at the scene.

The residence in Castleview Park is the same one where four-year-old Tadgh Farrell and his grandaunt were murdered in an arson attack on December 6 last.

Along with a garda presence on the roads leading to Castleview Park, security tape has been placed across the lane at the rear of the burnt out home adjacent to the Derry Rovers FC ground.

Gardai in Tullamore are investigating and they have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
