Man (50s) hospitalised after being hit by car outside busy Offaly shop
A man in his 50s was brought to Tullamore Hospital on Thursday evening after being struck by a car in Edenderry.
The incident occurred on St Mary's Road in the town, close to the busy Sweeney's Filling Station and Oaklands Community College junction.
Gardaí briefly redirected traffic from the area on Thursday evening as they dealt with the situation.
The man, who was a pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle in the area.

In a statement to Offaly Live, gardaí confirmed: "Gardaí received a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Thursday 29th January 2026 at approximately 6:15 pm in the St. Mary’s Road area of Edenderry, Co. Offaly.
"The pedestrian, a male in his 50s, was conveyed to Tullamore hospital for treatment."
They have since said investigations are ongoing.
