Major garda presence in Edenderry week on from petrol bomb that killed two people
There is a major garda presence in Edenderry on Saturday evening, exactly one week on from a fatal petrol bomb attack that left young Tadgh Farrell (4) and Mary Holt (60) dead in a horrific fire.
A number of garda vehicles were placed prominently in the town shortly before 7pm on Saturday as officers mounted a number of checkpoints seeking further information on the attack that shocked the nation last weekend.
Drivers were being stopped on St Mary's Road and Sr Senan Avenue near Oaklands Community College. Traffic was building up as a number of drivers gave lengthy statements.
Gardaí were asking motorists if they were in the town of Edenderry last week after 6pm and what they may have witnessed.

The activity comes as gardaí close the net on those involved in Saturday night's horrific petrol bomb attack in Castleview Park.
At least three properties in Offaly and Kildare were searched on Friday morning, the same day as little Tadgh Farrell's funeral. Gardaí said they have concluded those searches but results were not being released for operational reasons.
CCTV footage released by gardaí showed what appeared to be two young males carrying out the heinous crime; first smashing the front window of the house with an instrument before throwing a petrol bomb into the room where Mary Holt and Tadgh Farrell were left trapped.
Tadgh's grandmother, Pauline Holt, remains in hospital for treatment for severe burns after also being caught up in the incident.
Gardaí have now taken hundreds of statements and carried out door-to-door enquiries in the vicinity of Castleview Park and other areas of the town and its outskirts.
