Acclaimed Irish vocalist Megan Walsh who toured internationally with Celtic Woman for four years has released her first solo single from her adopted home in Co Offaly.

Her debut solo single, Mo Chroí, was released on March 6, marking a milestone moment in a career that has already resonated with audiences across the globe.

Best known for her celebrated tenure as a principal vocalist with Celtic Woman, the Meath native now steps forward as a solo recording artist with her own song, an emotional and quietly powerful track that speaks straight from the heart.

Her heart, it could be said, is now in Offaly in more ways than one as the county is her adopted home and home to her partner Cathal Nolan, known to many of us as the face of Ireland's Weather Channel.

Her four years with Celtic Woman, where she featured on four albums and two television specials, gaining hundreds of millions in streams, introduced her voice to millions around the world. She has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, London Palladium and Red Rocks, always earning praise for her vocal excellence and emotional authenticity.

The new single Mo Chroí has generated enthusiastic responses from longtime supporters and new listeners alike. Megan first introduced Mo Chroí to audiences during a live performance at the Celtic World Forum concert last October.

Mo Chroí was recorded at Cauldron Studios in Dublin, produced by acclaimed Irish musician and former Sinead O'Connor producer Bill Shanley, whose organic production style provides the perfect framework for Walsh’s expressive vocal performance, and mixed by production duo Chris O'Brien and Graham Murphy, known for their radio-ready sound and meticulous attention to detail, Adding a texture to the song is accomplished musician Colin Farrell, whose contemporary fiddle performance enhances the track.

While her years with Celtic Woman brought international acclaim and allowed her to celebrate Ireland’s musical heritage across continents, Walsh’s solo work offers a more intimate expression of her artistic identity. Mo Chroí honours the tradition that helped shaped her while embracing a contemporary sensibility that reflects her personal influences and experiences.

For Megan Walsh, this debut single represents more than a first release, it is the culmination of years of musical growth and reflection. Megan says: "Releasing Mo Chroí feels like stepping into the space I’ve always been building toward.”
