An Offaly woman, who someday hopes to become a professional beautician, appeared before Tullamore District Court last week charged with damaging cosmetics products in a Tullamore supermarket.
Megan Mooney (23) with an address 144 Greenwood Park, Edenderry appeared before Tullamore District Court on Wednesday last charged with damaging products and rendering them unsaleable by the retail outlet.
Sgt Richie Thorton, court presenter, told Judge Andrew Cody that on July 21 of this year at Tesco in Tullamore the defendant entered the store and opened several boxes of cosmetic products and left them in a condition where they could not be sold.
The defendant was identified on the store's CCTV and has previous convictions, the court heard.
Solicitor for the defendant, Aisling Maloney, told the court her client pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and has compensated the injured party for their loss.
She hopes to commence a course in beauty in January of next year, Ms Maloney added.

"I hope she gets her cosmetics a different way in future," Judge Cody said and sentenced the defendant to 40 hours community service in lieu of 14 days imprisonment.
