A PACKED crowd gathered in Rahan Community Hall recently to mark a very special milestone, the 50th anniversary of the hall's opening in 1975.

The occasion brought memories flooding back and the hall's history was celebrated with warmth, music and tributes.

The original building that once stood on the site was destroyed by fire in the 1970s and in its place the new hall was opened by the famous singer, Brendan Shine, who also performed on the night.

Fittingly Brendan returned for the anniversary celebrations, this time joined by his daughter Emily.

Speaking to the crowd, he expressed his delight at seeing the venue still thriving.
