Southend continued their unbeaten start to the National League season as Sam Austin’s goal earned a 1-0 win against Truro.
The Shrimpers had a fantastic chance to go ahead in the fifth minute but Gus Scott-Morriss’ header was cleared off the line by Zac Bell.
Yassine En-Neyah sliced a shot wide of the upright and Dominic Johnson-Fisher hit an effort over the crossbar as the hosts went close.
Tom Hopper’s header was ruled out for offside after the break, but Southend struck in the 63rd minute when Scott-Morriss had a shot blocked and Austin fired home the loose ball.
Truro’s Jake Taylor clipped the crossbar from a corner, but Southend saw out the game to record a third win from four league games.
