Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane praised his side after beating Fleetwood 5-4 on penalties in the Carabao Cup but he admits he is always wanting more.
After the game finished 2-2, Barnsley goalkeeper Murphy Cooper saved penalties from Ryan Graydon and George Morrison to earn victory for the Sky Bet League One side.
Hourihane said: “I thought there were some really, really good passages of play, good opportunities. And some good performances.
“Yes, we won and we got through and the lads have done great. But it would just be nice to have seen that out and just come away with a 2 -1 victory.”
Jon Russell opened the scoring after 15 minutes when he headed in a fantastic Reyes Cleary cross at the far post.
Wing-back Liam Roberts scored directly from a corner on the stroke of half-time to equalise for Pete Wild’s men.
The Tykes made it 2-1 in the 59th minute after Cleary saw his cross turned into the net by Fleetwood defender Toby Mullarkey.
The League Two side levelled in the fourth minute of added time through Owen Devonport before Barnsley won the game on penalties.
Visiting boss Wild was not too downbeat despite the result.
“When they got the second goal, we could have easily crumbled, it could have easily been three or four and it wasn’t,” he said. “We stuck at it.
“There was just so much desire, so much desire and determination to stick to the task, to stick to what they needed to do, to understand how to solve problems.”
