Hector Kyprianou gives struggling Peterborough victory at Huddersfield

Peterborough captain Hector Kyprianou headed the only goal of the game to end their 13-game away league winless run and frustrate promotion hopefuls Huddersfield.

The Cyprus midfielder pounced just before the break, while the Terriers failed to score at home for the fifth game in a row.

Peterborough are in relegation danger but they started well as Cian Hayes and Archie Collins both shot over.

Darren Ferguson’s visitors then caused a bigger scare in the 35th minute when Hayes’ angled strike was blocked on the line by Lasse Sorensen.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, went into half-time without a shot on target – and fell behind in first-half injury time.

Peterborough’s goal came when Tayo Edun’s cross from the left was headed in by the unmarked Kyprianou.

It was a lively and open start to the second half but there was a lack of cutting edge – with Callum Marshall shooting over for Town in the 69th minute.

The best late chance fell to Peterborough’s Abraham Odoh but his low strike was palmed away by Lee Nicholls.
