AFC Wimbledon extend unbeaten run with stalemate at Accrington

AFC Wimbledon extended their unbeaten run to eight games but had to settle for a goalless draw at Accrington.

Chances were at a premium in a game where neither side could break the deadlock.

The visitors started strongly and had probably the best chance of the game after 17 minutes when Aron Sasu’s close-range strike was kept out by the foot of Stanley keeper Billy Crellin.

While it was a battle, neither side created much in the first half, although Wimbledon keeper Owen Goodman did tip over a header from his own player Omar Bugiel.

Stanley pressed at the start of the second half, with Ash Hunter’s 30-yard blast sailing just past the top corner of the goal.

Both managers made changes as they looked for the moment of quality which would change the game.

At one end Marcus Browne headed over from close range, while Stanley were furious they weren’t awarded a penalty for handball after 76 minutes.

AFC Wimbledon remain in the play-off positions, with 20th-placed Accrington battling to move further away from the bottom two.
