Gateshead missed the chance to close the gap on the top three of the National League after a 0-0 draw at Yeovil.
Both sides hit the woodwork in the stalemate at Huish Park, with Sean McGurk thwarted by the post for the hosts in the opening two minutes.
Gateshead also struck the upright with a curling effort from the edge of the box in the 87th minute before Will McGowan brought out a fine save from home goalkeeper Ollie Wright.
That meant the Heed made the mammoth 355-mile journey home with a point which keeps them fourth, three points behind third-placed Barnet.
