Wigan set up a glamour FA Cup fourth round tie with Fulham after a confident 2-0 win at Mansfield.
Thelo Aasgaard scored two quality goals at the start of the second half to send the 2013 winners through to the next round.
Mansfield were left counting the cost of some wasteful finishing during a first half which they had controlled.
Sam Tickle comfortably saved Hiram Boateng’s shot during a cagey opening 20 minutes.
The Wigan shot-stopper was forced into saves from Matthew Craig and Stephen McLaughlin as Mansfield enjoyed a good spell midway through the half.
Johnny Smith wasted a great chance for the visitors when he fired tamely wide from a good position on 32 minutes.
But Aasgaard put Wigan ahead after heading home Smith’s perfect cross on 48 minutes.
And the Norwegian doubled the advantage after curling a beauty into the top corner six minutes later.
George Maris blazed wide in the closing minutes to end any hopes of an unlikely comeback.
