Offaly authorities close two more roads as flooding persists

Wednesday's rain leaves a lasting impact

Offaly County Council have announced further road closures this morning as the levels of the River Barrow causing flooding in the Portarlington area.

In addition to the road closure that is currently in place on the L-4026 in the Kinnitty Area of Offaly, Botley Lane, Portarlington Town, and the Bog Road, Portarlington Town, have been closed overnight.

These roads are impassable due to severe flooding of the River Blackstick and River Barrow in Portarlington and will remain closed over the next couple of days.

Road users are strongly advised not to drive through roads which are submerged in floodwaters as these floodwaters may be deeper than they appear.
