With the spell of settled weather over the last few days, Roscrea Trail Blazers hiking club got out in the Slieve Blooms under clear, cloudless and star filled skies for the Friday night walk last week. Well done to everyone that made the effort.

The Roscrea based group who invite members from across the Midlands had a very busy 2025 with trips to Madeira, the UK and numerous hikes around Ireland and 2026 is shaping up to be every bit as busy with trips to Austria, Snowdon, island trips, charity walks and numerous challenge walks to be completed.

Their walk this Friday night March 13th is the Lough Boora Parklands Loop. Distance: 9.5km, Grade: Easy, Time: Two hours. Meeting at the Lough Boora Trail Head at 7pm. Please bring Head/hand torch.

On Sunday last, they had the third section of the Slieve Bloom Way from Cadamstown to Kinnitty Castle. A fantastic day out with 22 hikers talking on the 12km walk, with tea, coffee and homemade treats at the end.

They would encourage anyone thinking of taking up hiking for better health or as a way to destress to please make contact with the number below.
