Offaly woman disqualified and fined for no insurance

Gardaí were on patrol in Puttaghaun Close in Tullamore when they intercepted the vehicle

A Tullamore motorist was fined and disqualified from driving when she appeared before Tullamore District Court for no insurance.

Before the court was Amanda Rattigan (38) with an address at 46 Puttaghaun Close in Tullamore, Co Offaly for no insurance contrary to Section 56 (1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Act.

Garda Regan from Clara Garda Station told the court that on July 4 of this year he was on patrol in Puttaghaun Close in Tullamore. At 11.34am he stopped a car driven by the defendant and upon inspection observed there was no tax or insurance displayed on the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act. The defendant has no previous convictions, the court heard. 

Judge Cody fined the defendant €750 with six months to pay and disqualified her from driving for two years.
