The Community Employment (CE) scheme currently administered by the Department of Social Protection is now 30 years in existence and the milestone will be marked in North Tipperary.

CE has been a cornerstone of local development providing vital support, skills, and opportunities within local communities.

According to the DSP Area Manager for Limerick and North Tipperary Community Employment Programmes, Fiona Casey: “The scheme has played a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by communities across the county, providing temporary work opportunities to alleviate unemployment while also equipping participants with essential skills, training, and hands-on experience in tandem with supporting local development.

“To mark this important milestone, a commemorative plaque is being presented to each Community Employment Sponsoring Group, and one has now been presented to North Tipperary Development Company by the Department of Social Protection.
“This plaque is an appreciation and recognition of Sponsoring Groups dedication to the CE programme”.
