The walk is planned to raise funds for the legal battle against the communications mast next to the local National School

The community of Cloughjordan are expected to come out in force behind the Move the Mast Action Group when they hold a fundraiser in the village next week.

Cloughjordan's Move the Mast Action Group will host a 'Walk the Ring' fundraiser at St. Michael's NS in Cloughjordan on Wednesday, September 10 at 6 pm.

Anyone who would like to spend an hour or so walking the ring in Cloughjordan and supporting their legal case are welcome to take part.

The walk will leave from St. Michael's and proceed to the woods via the Borrisokane Road, then loop back to the school via Step Road.

"Buggies and bikes are welcome, but you'll need helmets and hi-vis jackets to keep everyone safe. Please be aware of brief road closures and delays during the walk", the organisers said.

This is a sponsored walk and the schoolchildren have gathered sponsorship for the event.

If you would like to make a donation, go to gofundme.com/MovetheMast, or donation buckets will be available on the day.

The funds we raise go towards paying the school's legal fees in their fight against Eir's mast.

“This is a David vs Goliath battle,” Kelli Cleary, chairperson of the Action Group told the Tribune earlier this year, “but we’re determined to rally, raise awareness, and make noise about this mast until Eir back down and find a better place for it. Cloughjordan is no company’s industrial site.”
