Over €780,000 vacant property grants paid to Tipperary homes - O'Meara
North Tipperary Fianna Fáil TD Ryan O'Meara has said new figures showing €780,000 worth of vacant and derelict property grants paid to Tipperary homeowners highlights an increase in the rate of grants being issued following the completion of works.
Deputy O'Meara's party colleague, Minister for Housing James Browne, published new data outlining applications, approvals and payments under the Government's Vacant and Derelict Refurbishment Scheme up to the end of December 2024.
Nationwide, some €77 million has been paid in vacant and derelict property grants to almost 1,500 homes.

Reflecting on the latest data, Deputy O'Meara said: "I'm delighted to receive confirmation that the scheme is working. A total of 45 applications were received in Tipperary, 38 of which were approved and some €780,000 worth of grants were issued to 15 homeowners following the completion of works.
"This strong uptake in interest in the grants is hugely welcome. It is also very positive to see the issuing of grants as more homeowners complete thee refurbishment works on derelict and vacant property. It's clear the scheme is delivering results - it is adding housing stock to the market and providing much needed homes for people to live in.
"It is also helping to revitalise communities and allow more people to live in their own locality."

Deputy O'Meara added: "Fianna Fáil is committed to continuing to tackling vacancy and dereliction throughout this Government."
Under the vacant property refurbishment grant, property owners can receive a payment of up to €70,000 to turn a vacant or derelict house or building into your permanent home or a rental property. The grants are paid upon the completion of the works and the submission of the required paperwork demonstrating the work approved has been delivered.
