Tullamore Courthouse

Women appeared at Tullamore District Court

TWO women were fined a total of €1,700 for motoring offences committed near Geashill.

Ru Yi Wong (39) and Andrine Chng Chai Yoong, both of McCormack's Complex, Dublin Road, Athlone, pleaded guilty when they appeared before Tullamore District Court.

Garda Pat McGee said Ru Yi Wong was the driver of a vehicle stopped at 12.20pm on August 13 last at Urney, Geashill.

Ms Wong had an international permit but no valid licence for this country. Andrine Chng Chai Yoong was the owner of the vehicle.

Counsel for the accused said an insurance policy was in place and Ms Wong was a named driver on it.

A native of Malaysia, she had a Malaysian licence and worked as a hairdresser.

She now understood she must have a driving licence for this country because she is a resident here.
