RIP: Tributes paid to Offaly 'gentleman' who 'always had a smile' following sad passing

Tributes have flooded in following the passing of Thomas (Tosh) Gorry of Ballydownan, Geashill, Co Offaly.

Thomas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore. 

The beloved husband of the late Eileen and dear grandad of the late baby Evin, Thomas was also predeceased by his parents Thomas and Brigid, sisters Josephine, Mary, Áine and Patty, brothers Frank and Seamus (Jim).

He will be deeply regretted by his loving family Ann, David, Fiona and Brian, sisters Brid and Frances, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends, according to his death notice on RIP.ie. 

Many have taken to express their sympathies with Thomas's family online, as well as share their fond memories.

Paying tribute to Thomas, one mourner wrote: “My sympathy to Ann, David, Fiona and Brian and all the family at this sad time. Tosh was a good man who was held in high regard by all. May he rest in peace.”

Another friend wrote: “Sincere sympathy to Ann, Fiona, David and Brian and all the extended Gorry Family. Tosh was an institution and part of the fabric of Geashill for as long as I can remember. May he rest in peace.”

A third tribute read: “So sorry for your loss. Tosh was an absolute gentleman. Always had a smile. May he rest in peace.”

Thomas will be reposing at Maher's Chapel of Rest, Portarlington on Thursday evening (February 27) from 5:30pm with Rosary at 8pm. His Requiem Mass will take place at St Mary's Church, Raheen at 11am, with Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
