Man arrested after being verbally abusive to staff in pub and gardaí on Stephen's Night in Offaly

A man was arrested on Stephen's Night for being verbally abusive to staff at a pub and gardaí.

According to gardai, at 10.15pm the man became aggressive towards the security staff at a licensed premises on Townsend Street in Birr.

Gardai were called to the scene but the man refused to leave and became verbally abusive towards the gardai.

He was arrested under Section 8 of the Public Order Act.
