Vigil held to remember Laois woman found dead in Dublin

A vigil was held on Monday night for a woman from the Midlands who was found dead on a street in Dublin on Sunday morning. 

The woman, aged 47, who has been named locally as Ann Delaney, was originally from Crettyard in Co Laois.

She was found unresponsive outside a supermarket on Aungier Street on Sunday morning.

She was a former nurse and had one daughter. 

Monday night's gathering was held to remember her with music and poetry and to let off balloon's in Ann's memory.

Liberty Soup Run said they were heartbroken over Ann, who was "special in her own way". 

People posting tributes noted she was a keen poet and loved words.  

A notice posted on RIP.ie read: Ann Delaney, Dromagh, Crettyard, Co. Laois, February 25th 2024 at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin aged 47 years. Beloved daughter of Mary and the late Tom. Sadly missed by her loving daughter Saoirse, mother, brothers Thomas, John, Ciaran and Paul, sisters Siobhán, Tricia, Roisin and Emer, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Crettyard GAA also posted a tribute to the late Ann, noting her caring nature.
