ALERT: Storm Eowyn officially named as Met Eireann warns of damaging winds and falls of snow
Met Eireann is warning of damaging winds and falls of snow through Thursday night and into Friday after Storm Eowyn was officially named by the UK Met Office.
Met Eireann has issued an updated Weather Advisory for Ireland that warns that very strong to gale force winds are expected across the country starting late on Thursday.
The Weather Advisory from Met Eireann says that on Thursday night and Friday, a deepening Low-Pressure system, Storm Eowyn, is forecast to track across Ireland.
Met Eireann warns that very strong to gale force winds are expected across the country with the potential for damaging wind gusts and disruption in places. Transitory falls of sleet and snow are expected too, especially across west and northwest counties. High seas and spells of heavy rain are expected also.
Met Éireann says it is continuously monitoring the evolving situation and weather warnings will be issued as confidence in the forecast track/intensity of the Low-Pressure system improves.
You can check the Met Eireann website at www.met.ie and Met Eireann app for updates to forecasts and warnings in the coming days.
