Various parts of the country experienced freezing temperatures this Thursday morning.
Thomastown, Co Kilkenny has been named by Carlow Weather as the area with the coldest temperature overnight, having hit a low -8.6°C.
Across the country, the effects of the cold front were felt, with a few wintry showers reported in the North and West.

According to Met Éireann, today will be very cold with frost, ice, and fog slow to clear, lingering in some spots through the day. A dry and sunny day for much of the country, but scattered showers of rain, sleet and snow in the northwest will spread across Ulster and north Connacht through the afternoon and evening.
Highest temperatures of just 1 to 5 degrees in a light northwest breeze.
Tonight is said to be largely dry and clear with just isolated showers near western and northern coasts. It will be very cold with widespread sharp to severe frost, icy stretches and patches of fog or freezing fog.
Lowest temperatures of -5 and -2 degrees with light southwest or variable breezes.
