Michael Shields with Ronan O'Hare (Lions Club H4H) and Edward Delahunt (Offaly Hospice) after sale of his bulloc
Several cattle were sold recently in Central Auctions' mart in Birr in aid of the charity Hooves4Hospice.
The charity, founded by Tullamore and Birr Lions Clubs and supported by other clubs throughout the region, has raised hundreds of thousands of Euro for the campaign to build a Midlands Hospice in Tullamore.
The hospice will serve the four Midland counties; Offaly, Laois, Westmeath and Longford.
A red Hereford bullock was sold by Gerard Searson, Lusmagh for €1,100 while a Belgian Blue bullock donated by Michael and Terri Shields, Lusmagh sold for €1,340.
The donating and rearing of calves in aid of the charity continues and hundreds of farmers in the Midlands have supported the campaign to date.
The charity organisers extend their sincere thanks to everyone who is involved in the initiative, either by donating, rearing or buying the animals.
Further details for anyone interested in participating can be obtained from Gerry in the Hooves4Hospice office at 0858775477.
