A TikTok post by a Killeigh man about a Tullamore Garda was called “disgusting, personal and completely unacceptable” during last week's Tullamore District Court sitting.

Evan McMorrow, Killeenmore, Killeigh was charged with a long list of road traffic offences, including driving with no insurance, no driving licence and driving without reasonable consideration on September 18, 2024 on the N80, Killeigh.

During the hearing of the case the prosecuting Garda, Patrick McGee, showed the Judge a screenshot from the defendant's TikTok page which, Garda McGee said, showed a picture of Garda McGee and an insulting, untrue statement about him.

Judge Andrew Cody said he was “disgusted” by the insulting statement, which he would not repeat in court.

The defending Barrister said Mr McMorrow was pleading guilty to all the road traffic matters.

“He now realises the error of his ways. He is in a job and he works very hard. He has had a troubled life. Both of his parents were alcoholics and they have both passed away. He is also willing to write a letter of apology to Garda McGee about the TikTok post.”

The Judge convicted and sentenced Mr McMorrow to three months imprisonment. He also disqualified from driving for ten years and fined €5,000.
