On September 19, 2025, six students from Tullamore College sat down with two former Members of Parliament, Mr Ian Paisley jnr. and Ms Michelle Gildernew to record a podcast for the BBC Series 'Borderland – UK or United Ireland'.

The series will examine whether a referendum on a united Ireland should be held and how a 'border poll' would work in practice. It will also investigate whether people believe remaining in the United Kingdom or becoming part of a united Ireland is in their best interests, with a focus on specific issues like health, education and the economy.

6th Year student Kate O'Connor said,

"We were asked our opinions on the possibility of a border poll for United Ireland and what way we would chose to vote. Both politicians gave their own opinions on the matter before asking us our thoughts on the subject.

"We had a chance to ask them questions (and even question their opinions!). It was a truly interesting experience that we are so lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in the recording.
