A historic Tullamore landmark is up for sale.

Described on Daft.ie as an investment property, in 2022 permission was granted to Ravine Ltd for the restoration and redevelopment of the former grain mill distillery at Water Lane,Tullamore.

The plan was to transform the listed building into a mixed-use development consisting of 4 retail units on the ground floor, 18 apartments units over the first, second and third levels, landscaping and all associated site works. The former grain mill distillery building is a protected structure.

The late Christy Maye who died recently was the director of Ravine at the time permission was granted.

The mill is situated opposite the Bridge Centre, one of the main shopping areas in the town centre.

The auctioneer dealing with the sale has described it as a rare chance to breathe new life into a site rich with character and potential. The listed price is €950,000.

Another historic mill in Offaly is also on the market.The striking flour mill complex on Frederick Street, Clara, c.1800, is steeped in history. Set over six stories, with adjoining outbuildings.

It features a stone entrance, brick chimney (c.1880), and former mill manager's house.

A fully operational, app-controlled hydroelectric plant powered by the River Brosna is also a feature of the site.

The area where the mill is located is zoned for mix use by Offaly County Council.

The price is on application.
