A KILCORMAC man pleaded guilty to being in possession of €100 of cocaine for his own use during last week's Tullamore Court.

Before the court was Graham Cummins, Kinnitty Road, Kilcormac.

The offence happened on November 11 last at Puttaghaun, Tullamore. He had no previous convictions.

The defending solicitor Aisling Maloney said Mr Cummins recently lost his job and is on illness benefit.

“On the date in question he was out socialising with a number of friends and the drugs were offered.

"Taking drugs is not in fact his scene and he hasn't used drugs since.”

Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case to July 16 to give the defendant an opportunity to pay €500 to the Court Poor Box, “which, if he pays, I will not convict.”
